Aspirin has been around for over a century, and is used by many to alleviate all kinds of aches and pains. Did you know that Aspirin has many other uses too? Check out these ideas to use it for everything from home repairs to skincare.
Get Rid Of Pimples And Ingrown Hairs
Rubbing a paste of crushed Aspirin and water directly on to your blemish can help to eliminate anything trapped inside, and reduce inflammation. If only I had known this when I was a teenager!
Soften Calluses
Calluses on your hands (or anywhere else for that matter) can become painful. Treat them by mixing 2 crushed Aspirin with 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice and 1/2 teaspoon of water. Rub on calluses and then wrap with a towel and cover with a plastic bag. Wait for 10 minutes before washing, and then rub with a pumice stone. Make sure to apply a good quality lotion when you are finished.
Remove Soap Scum
Remove soap scum by dissolving 2 Aspirin in warm water and using it as a DIY cleaner. Spray the mixture on your faucets and countertops and wipe away.
Clean Rust Spots
My shower always seems to get rust spots where we sit the shaving cream. If this is a problem in your house, wet the area where you see the spot and sprinkle crushed Aspirin on it. Let that sit for about 10 minutes and wipe it away with a wet cloth. No more stains!
Patching Drywall
Have a small hole in your drywall that needs to be filled quickly? Mix a few crushed Aspirin with water to make a paste. Apply to the wall with a putty knife and, voila! No more holes!
Battery Boost
If you have a dead battery but no one around to help, drop a couple of Aspirin into your battery cell. The Aspirin will react with the acid creating enough charge to start the car. It’s not recommended to do this often, but would be helpful to you get somewhere to replace your battery.
Treat Itchy Bug Bites
Bug bites can be irritating. Get your Aspirin pill wet and rub it on your bite for instant relief. No more scratching!
Removing Sweat Stains
Workout clothes can often get unsightly sweat stains. Try crushing uncoated Aspirin and add just enough water to make a paste. Apply the paste to your stains and let sit for a couple of hours. Then all you have to do is pop your clothes in the washer and run with your regular detergent.
Keep Flowers Looking Fresh
I love getting fresh flowers! The only downside is that cut flowers die quickly. Add a few crushed Aspirin to the water in your vase before you put the flowers in to keep them fresh longer. Don’t forget to add more when you change your water.
Clean Your Scalp
Add a few crushed Aspirin to your shampoo. It will help exfoliate your scalp to remove dead skin cells that can cause unsightly dandruff.
