25+ Ways to Make $150 This Week!
If you’re looking for ways to stretch your budget in the new year, check out this list of more than 25 ways you could make $150 this week!
Services You Can Offer:
1. Babysitting — Either for someone you know personally, or through a site like Care.com.
2. Tutoring — Consider contacting local schools as many of them are looking for tutors and might give your information out to their students.
3. Substitute Teaching — There’s a huge shortage of substitute teachers these days, and in many cases, you only need a college degree (not a specific education degree).
4. Dog Walking — Get your exercise and make some money — win, win!
5. House Cleaning — Cleaning, laundry, ironing, organizing…there are so many opportunities here!
6. Window Washing — You’d be surprised how many people really dislike washing their windows and would be willing to pay you to do them.
7. Lawn Mowing — Hand out fliers to your neighbors and see if anyone is interested. Depending on the size of the yards, you could make $150 in an afternoon!
8. Car Washing — Not just the outside either! You can make good money by scrubbing the carpets and thoroughly cleaning out the inside of the cars, too.
9. Mulch Spreading — This seasonal task is usually not a favorite for very many people. You could try to drum up your own business or you could contact local landscapers and see if they’d hire you seasonally.
10. Weed Pulling (or other landscape work) — Spring and Fall are great opportunities to earn some extra cash doing yard work. Even if you don’t have a green thumb, you can still pull weeds!
11. Snow Shoveling — During winter months, you might be able to make a little extra shoveling snow. Even if someone already plows the driveway, they likely don’t get the sidewalks and other smaller areas.
12. Grocery Shopping — Several of you mentioned making up to $35 per hour with Shipt, Instacart, and Point Pickup.
13. Drive for Uber Eats — Work on your own terms, whenever it’s convenient for you.
Things You Can Sell:
14. Extra furniture and electronics (online is the best place to sell these items).
15. Shoes and clothing your kids have outgrown or no longer need (either at a garage sale or online).
16. Toys and games you’re no longer using (either at a garage sale or online).
17. Books that have been on your shelf forever and you’re not going to read — A lot of local book stores offer cash for trading in books!
18. Extra gift cards you won’t use — Sell them and get cash!
19. Plasma — There is pretty good money in donating Plasma here in the United States.
20. Baked goods — I’ve seen baked goods, jams, jellies, sourdough breads, and salsa for sale on Facebook Marketplace.
21. Anything you don’t need but still has some value — It’s always a great feeling to clear out clutter and make some extra cash in the process!
Other Ideas:
22. Return things with the tags still on them — Even if you don’t get the full price back, it’s better than nothing.
23. Cash out your account balance from places like Ibotta, Poshmark, Rakuten, and TopCashBack. And don’t forget about gift cards from Swagbucks, Shopkick, and more!
24. Pull from your grocery budget and eat from the pantry/freezer instead.
25. Participate in user-experience testing.
26. Pick up an extra shift or a few extra hours at work.
