5 Easy Ways to Celebrate Advent

Prepare Him Room by Marty Machowski

This book has so many simple ideas to celebrate Advent and learn more about Christmas. It has a narrative story that kids will want to hear, and it only requires you to sit down as a family a few times a week.

Christmas Advent Book Calendar

I first shared this idea several years ago, and it’s remained a tradition in our family. This one is a little more work as you have to collect the books, but it allows you to be intentional about which books you choose. It also helps kids know how many days are left until Christmas!

Jesse Tree

A Jesse Tree is a small Christmas tree that you add ornaments to each day leading up to Advent. You can find resources to create really complicated ornaments, or you can use a resource like this that lets you print them out already colored or for your kids to color them on their own.

A Jesus Christmas by Barbara Reoach

This is a great Advent devotional for families who want to connect in the weeks leading up to Christmas. It is great for families with smaller children and helps kids walk through what Christmas is truly about.
