Set A Timer
Set a timer for 20 minutes (or 15, or 10, if 20 seems like too much). While the timer is going, start cleaning. You could start with the first thing you see that needs done, or prioritize and do what you think is most important. Motivate yourself by remembering that, when that timer goes off, you are done. You have accomplished something! You will be surprised at how much you can do in 20 minutes!
Get Some Machines Going
It seems like there are always dishes to be done and clothes to be washed. Work on getting your dishwasher loaded and running, and a load of laundry in before scrolling through your phone in the morning. This is a good way to get the day started off on the right foot.
Disposable Dishware
Speaking of washing dishes, several years ago I was at a friend’s house for dinner. When she started setting the table, she apologized for using paper plates, saying that she just couldn’t keep up with washing all the glass dishes. If you are having a hard time staying afloat, give yourself a break and use disposable paper products to cut down on cleanup. There are some great green products out there that are ecofriendly.
Utilize One-Pot Appliances
There are so many easy recipes to make a whole meal in your Crockpot, Instant Pot, or Air Fryer. Not only do these appliances make for an easy dinner, they also make for an easy cleanup. Grab some Crockpot liners to make it even faster! Check out our Recipes page for dozens of ideas.
