Random fact… couponing is not what I went to college for. In real life I am a Registered Nurse. I haven’t worked in nursing since Southern Savers took over our life, but after working incredibly hard to get my license I’m not about to let it slip away. If you are like me, and searching for Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) then check out my list on where to look for completely free nursing CEUs credits.
Note: You need to verify with your state licensing office or website that a CEU is from an accepted and accredited program. The programs listed below are all ANCC accredited.
Sites For Free Nursing CEUs
CDC Continuing Education & Training
The CDC Training and Education site has all the CEU courses listed for most government health sites. Many are web based for you to do at your leisure. As you complete tests, the system keeps your earned credits and will print a certificate if needed for hours completed. Select show all, so see everything offered. It’s not the best organized, but with over 337 options just for nurses you are bound to find all the hours you need.
Nurse.com
Get 13.5 hours of free CEUs through Nurse.com. You’ll need to add each course to your cart and “checkout” but the cost is $0.00 for everything. They will try to encourage you to sign up for their full access, but there is no need to pay $49 when you can just move on and get the rest of your CEU’s somewhere else!
Institute for Healthcare Improvement
You can earn up to 18 free CEUs from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. First take their basic certificate in Quality and Safety for 17 hrs and then take an additional 35 CEU courses (scroll down the page for those options). This is also available in Spanish.
Incredible Health
Earn 80+ free CEUs from Incredible Health, all are accredited across all 50 states. You’ll create a login and the system will keep track of all completed CEU’s. They are also a job board site if you are looking for a new position.
MedScape Clinical Briefs
Create a free account with MedScape and get access to many past articles and trainings. They are all very small in CEU credits, but their quantity makes up for it. You can easily get all your needed CEU’s from the available briefs.
Oncology Nurses Society
Get free access to courses and podcasts from the Oncology Nurses Society that all can count as contact hours. In total there are over 50+ hours available.
Baylor College of Medicine CME
All Baylor Continuing Medical Education credits are free of charge. There are hundreds of online offerings though many are for doctors, these can qualify depending on your states guidelines.
Other Courses
Passy-Muir
These are all CEU courses dealing with Respiratory Care, including tracheostomy, speaking valves etc. This is very specialized, but great for anyone in the pediatric or critical care fields. This is one that you may need to check with your state board before taking, they are accredited through other organizations but not the ANCC.
