Status: The Stanley Adventure Quencher Valentine’s Day collection is practically Sold OUT at Target in stores and online (check stock online). However, we are spotting limited stock of some colors of the $20 Stackable Pint cup. We hope more of the cute pink and red cups will return before Valentine’s Day. Target Starbucks locations will also have a Valentine’s Day pink cup that dropped on Jan. 3 (good luck, though — people are lining up to get this cup).
Target dropped a Valentine’s Day Stanley collection on Dec. 31, and everyone lost their minds (in fact, video footage of the in-store release had a distinct Black Friday vibe). Given the hype around previous exclusive Stanley collections (we’re still recovering from the Starbuck’s holiday shiny red Adventure Quencher cup chaos), that’s no surprise. Here’s what to know about this hard-to-get collection if you want to try your luck (and you will need a LOT of luck).
What is the Target Stanley Valentine’s Collection?
It’s an exclusive limited-edition collection of Stanley drinkware. And it’s NOT available at the official Stanley site. Instead, you need to get it at Target, either on store shelves or online. Stanley has been partnering with Target and Starbucks for exclusive drops of limited-edition colors, and this is just another example of that.
The Valentine’s Day collection includes:
- A 16-oz. stacking pint cup in pink and red for $20.
- A 40-oz. Quencher tumbler in pink or red for $45.g
- A two-pack of 10-oz. Go Tumblers in red and pink (couldn’t find it online) for $45.
Does Starbucks Have Valentine’s Day Stanley Cups?
A sparkly pink 40-oz. cup appeared at Starbucks (only at locations inside Target store) on Jan. 3 for $49.95. We arrived before opening time at our local Target to line up for the cup and it STILL sold out before we got anywhere near it.
Where to Find the Stanley Valentine’s Day Collection In Stock
This collection is sold out and, even if it flickers back into stock before Valentine’s Day, your chances at snagging it are slim. Here are your options:
- Keep checking stock at Target. Check here for the 40-oz. and here for the 16-oz. stacking pint. With these popular collections, it’s rare to find products available for shipping and Target usually doesn’t make them available for curbside pickup (because they sell out so quickly). Make sure you’ve entered your ZIP code so that you can see which stores near you have limited stock, so you can try your luck and run to a store.
2. Keep an eye out at Target and Starbucks. Who knows — you may get lucky, and a few of the pink cups might get restocked.
3. Get it on the secondary market at a huge markup. If you MUST have one of these cups, we are seeing them listed on eBay, Poshmark and Mercari. But expect to pay far above the sticker price. We’re seeing a two-cup set of the 40-oz. Quencher on Mercari for $215; one of the red 40-oz. cups for $118 on Poshmark and various cups from the collection at $99.95 on eBay.
Why is there So Much Hype Around a Travel Cup?
Stanley is a popular brand. And, while a lot of the reason for its popularity is just hype, it really does put out a good-looking, high-quality product. The cups are attractive, come in an array of colors, are designed to fit in a car’s cup holder (despite holding a day’s worth of beverage) and keep drinks icy for literal days. By now, you’ve likely seen the viral video of the 40-oz. Quencher surviving a car fire while keeping the ice inside frozen.
The drinkware company is more than 100 years old and was long known for its cups’ durability and high performance. But when Stanley launched the adorable 40-oz. Quencher, the face of the brand changed. The cup remained sold out for the better part of 2022, becoming a hit with Millennials and Gen. Z, which are known to be serious about their hydration vessels. Now, even though all Stanley’s products are pretty easy to find in stock, the limited-edition collections and special colors stoke the flames of the brand’s popularity.
In other words, Stanley leverages exclusivity, beautiful design, rarity, collectability and the overall “emotional support cup” trend to stay not just relevant. And limited-edition drops add yet another layer of hype.
