The Fendi Baguette debuted in the ‘90s and hasn’t stopped being the sensation that it is, captivating so many Fendi handbag collectors and ultra-luxury enthusiasts alike – partly thanks to the fictional character Carrie Bradshaw but also much credit goes to Silvia Venturini Fendi for conceiving such an icon. So here’s a little taste of the Baguettes you can find at FASHIONPHILE. After all, bags inspired by carbs are an important part of a healthy ultra-luxury habit.
The Fendi Baguette Mainstays
The Fendi Baguette is inspired by French bread, nevertheless, and designed to be carried under the arm like a loaf of bread.
Classic Fendi Baguettes & Vintage Baguettes
When it comes to Fendi, the coveted bread and butter styles almost certainly include the classic Baguettes dressed in the iconic tobacco brown canvas fabric featuring the Fendi Zucca pattern, otherwise known as the FF logo. These are the fan favorites, especially amongst vintage lovers. Vintage Baguettes are older but just as good. Sometimes the core basics are the very best kinds. For Fendi, the classic Baguette is part of their brand DNA. So if you’re dedicated to building a capsule wardrobe, adding one of these Fendi Baguettes most certainly would be to your advantage.
The Fendi FF 1974 Baguette
The Fendi FF capsule collection includes the FF 1974 Baguette which we see rolling in pretty consistently as well. This is the logo seen in an archival squared version that dates back to 1974 (updated from the original rectangular version). The squared version was also presented in Fendi’s pre-fall 2018 collection. These are the Baguettes you typically see available now directly from Fendi.
Limited Edition Fendi Baguettes
There are the classics and vintage bags, and then there are the limited edition Baguette bags, unique for being a re-release or part of an outside collaboration with the house of Fendi. If you’re a collector looking for something that stands out, or in search of a rare Baguette, then a limited edition Baguette is for you. And trust me when I say there are so many limited edition Baguettes; Fendi produced more than 700 models of the Baguette since it launched in 1997. Totally explains why there’s a Fendi Baguette book all about them.
Fendi x FRGMT x Pokemon
To the anime lovers, Fendi collaborated with FRGMT x Pokemon for a limited edition collection to honor the Year of the Dragon. Hiroshi Fuijiwara’s FRGMT plays with Pokemon characters including Dratini, Dragonair, and Dragonite to transform Fendi’s signature icons like the Baguette. If you love collections like this, you might also go crazy for these collaborations with Loewe.
Fendi x Tiffany Baguette
The limited edition Tiffany Baguette is a stunner and a reimagination of the classic Baguette bag from a Tiffany & Co. point of view. The collaboration was first introduced at New York Fashion week in September 2022 during Fendi’s Resort 2023 runway show.
The anticipation of the Fendi x Tiffany collaboration was so intense, that the Tiffany blue beauty was only available for 24 hours upon release in early 2023. If you were lucky enough to get your hands on one during this time, there were satin and leather versions to choose from. Now since these are sold out everywhere the place to shop a highly collectible piece like the Tiffany Baguette would be FASHIONPHILE.
Limited Edition 25th Anniversary Fendi Baguettes
Many limited-edition Fendi Baguettes come from the bag’s 25th-anniversary release. Fendi and Tiffany partnered together for many things but to honor the 25th anniversary of the Fendi Baguette, they introduced a one-of-a-kind version of the Baguette bag made entirely of sterling silver and engraved with flowers as part of Fendi’s Hand in Hand initiative executed in partnership with local artisans. Additional Baguettes came to life while Fendi honored thr 25th anniversary of this famous bag, also partnering with other brands like Marc Jacobs.
To commemorate this occasion even more, Fendi re-released 25 Baguettes from the archives and launched a pop-up in New York City where for a limited time a selection of Baguette bags were available to shop just in time for the holiday season.
At this pop-up there was an archive room where the re-edition Baguette bags lived. These reimaginations celebrated the originals while standing out in unique materials such as denim, cashmere, shearling, fur, embroidery, sequins, and mother-of-pearl.
Sarah Jessica Parker x Fendi
After the Baguette’s 25th anniversary, AJLT Season 2 brought the anticipated full-circle moment for Sex and the City fans. Eagle-eyed viewers noticed Carrie holding what looked like the same sequined Baguette stolen from her, hinting that she either found it or got a new one. Lo and behold the Sex and the City Baguette is back thanks to this limited edition release. After all a wise woman once said, “It’s not a bag, it’s a Baguette!” Forever and always.
Other Fendi Baguette Collaborations
For the art lover, there are those DIY Fendi Baguettes including Baguette embroidery kits and a Baguette painting kit, bringing craft nights at home up a whole new level. I wish I could afford to be that bougie.
Other limited edition Fendi Baguettes include works of art in collaboration with artists such as Damien Hirst, Richard Prince, and Jeff Koons just to name a few. Additional collaborations with Fendi include powerhouse brands such as Porter and Versace.
The Bikini Girls graphics pay homage to the visionary fashion illustrator Antonio Lopez, evoking the disco era and embodying the free and universal femininity that defines the Fendi spirit.
This collaboration incorporates Porter’s signature technical nylon and took place for the first time in Fall/ Winter 2019. The partnership occurred once again for Fall/ Winter 2022 focusing on the Baguette bag.
In 2022, Fendi and Versace teamed up for a unique collaboration where they swapped roles and brand codes, led by Kim Jones and Silvia Venturini Fendi. This project, dubbed “Fendace,” merged both styles.
In Fendi’s pre-fall 2020 capsule collection, the arty trend makes a comeback with the “California Sky” theme, featuring vibrant illustrations (2D marker drawings) in collaboration with LA artist Joshua Vides.
The Fendi x Sarah Coleman collaboration brings a ’70s vibe to the collection, featuring multicolor bullseye patterns, fishbowl effects, vertigo-style prints, and fresh takes on the FF monogram.
These limited-edition Baguettes are special because we don’t see them too often. Whether you choose a classic Baguette, a vintage Baguette, or one of many limited edition Baguettes, there are so many Baguettes from Fendi you can shop for and the best place to find these treasures is FASHIONPHILE.
