Yesterday, Amazon announced that they will be raising the cost of an Amazon Prime membership, starting February 18th. Here’s a break down of the new prices, a possible way to get around the increase, and information about if Prime Membership is still worth your money.
New Prices
- Yearly memberships will change from $119 to $139.
- Customers who pay once per month will see an increase from $12.99 to $14.99.
- Prime Student will be $69 per year, instead of $59.
- EBT subscriptions will increase from $5.99 to $6.99
How can I make sure I don’t have to pay the increased price?
- If you have an annual membership that renews before March 25, you will be able to keep the lower rate for this year.
- If your renewal date is after March 25, follow these steps to keep the lower rate for 1 more year.
- Take your account off of “auto-renewal”. You can do this by going to your account and clicking “Manage My Membership”.
- Next, purchase yourself a Prime Gift Membership HERE.
- When your regular membership expires, activate your gift membership and apply it to your account.
