Thanks to Bark and the new Bark Air, dogs are finally getting the first-class attention they deserve.

Bark is a dog-centric brand devoted to making dogs happy with the best products and services, like the Bark Box, which delivers fresh snacks and playful toys picked exclusively for your pup. The company announced on April 11 — National Pet Day — its new Bark Air, the “world’s first air travel experience designed specifically for dogs first, and their human companions second, enabling them to travel together comfortably and conveniently,” according to the news release.

“We are excited to take the insights we’ve learned over the years to create an experience that is truly dog-first, which is drastically different from just accepting dogs — from the ground to the skies.”

Matt Meeker, co-founder and CEO at Bark

Bark Air is taking the white glove, first-class human flight experience and giving it all to pups—from booking to arrival to in-flight services and disembarkation, dogs will be the VIPs and treated to a positively luxurious, curated experience.

Bark Air is currently offering one-way and round-trip flights between New York via Westchester County Airport (HPN) and LA via Van Nuys (VNY) and New York and London, England via Stansted Airport (STN), but it plans to add more routes in the future. Premium flights, starting from New York on May 23, are available for booking right now. Air travel is provided through Argus, a Platinum-rated charter company.

Here’s what to know about your flight with Bark Air:

  • Booking: After you book your flight, a Bark Air concierge will contact you to learn about your and your dog’s travel plans.
  • Check-in: You and your pooch will arrive at the airport 45 to 60 minutes before takeoff to check-in. Your pup can also meet other furry friends from their flight while their people are treated to meals prepared by on-site chefs — no crates, stressful TSA checkpoints or screening.
  • Preboarding: A Bark Air concierge will help all the pups settle into their experience with socialization and dog-centric cabin prep. They’ll check with each dog to ensure they’re enjoying their experience and adapting to the new environment and determine whether more attention and care is needed prior to boarding or once on board.
  • Boarding: The plane will already have been treated to a “Dogs Fly First” flight prep, including calming pheromones, music and even colors that pups prefer. All furry passengers have access to calming treats, noise-canceling ear muffs and calming jackets to make sure their flight is stress-free and enjoyable.
  • Onboard: Dogs are served their beverage of choice during the plane’s ascent and descent to prevent ear discomfort caused by changes in cabin pressure. Plus, a variety of Bark-branded treats, snacks, and surprises will be provided throughout the flight to pamper furry passengers and their people.

It’s finally time dogs are treated to a first-class experience when they travel!
