I would start decorating for Christmas in August if my husband let me. He doesn’t so I win another way… we tend to keep up our decorations until February! Seriously, I’m a little in love with Christmas.
We don’t go all out, or even fancy at all. Most of our decorations are handmade ornaments and other simple things the girls and I have made through the years. I’m all about having Christmas joy without the fear of the New Year’s bills. So here are some simple decorations you can do on a budget. Most will only cost a few dollars or are things you already have around the house!
Christmas Decorations on a Budget
Hang candy canes or ornaments in the window by attaching some ribbons.
Make your own felt Christmas Village.
Grab printer paper and make winter scenes in the windows.
Bring the outside in and dress up all the cabinets (or least a few of them) with items from nature. Totally free!
Put a Christmas tree in every nook and cranny of the house. The skies the limit on trees really! Grab old books, ribbon, anything you can find can become a tree…
While you are busy adding trees, don’t forget to add more snow. Become a master paper snowflake cutter.
Our all time favorite though is finger knitting our own garlands.
I almost forgot the wreath. That’s very important around here!
