This broccoli salad is one of my favorite side dishes to bring to family gatherings or picnics! It’s easy to put together and is always a crowd favorite.
Frugal Recipe: Broccoli Salad
Ingredients
- 5 cups fresh broccoli florets (about 2 heads), chopped into relatively small pieces
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/2 cup cooked and chopped bacon
- 1/2 cup sunflower seeds
- 1/4 cup minced red onion
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 3 tbsp sugar
- salt and pepper
Directions
- In a large mixing bowl, mix together the broccoli, cheese, raisins, bacon, sunflower seeds, and onion.
- Make the dressing: In a smaller bowl, mix together the mayo, sour cream, vinegar, sugar, and salt and pepper (to taste) until smooth.
- Add the dressing to the broccoli mixture and toss until everything is well coated.
- You can eat this immediately, but it’s better if you let if chill in the refrigerator for about an hour before serving.
