Here’s Exactly How To Save at Urban Outfitters in 2024

❤

Urban Outfitters (UO) has been making our hearts ❤ go thumpity-thump for decades. Whether it’s because it’s a sister brand to our beloved Free People or because it just gets the essence of our fashion spirit, we — and millions of other fashion-savvy hipsters — love to shop Urban Outfitters’ re-imagined graphic T-shirts, trendy denim silhouettes and unique home décor.

When you want to incorporate a conversation starter into your own personal style or living space, that’s where Urban Outfitters, affectionately called UO, shines brightest. The lifestyle retailer mixes trendy women’s and men’s clothes — from boho dresses and graphics to intimates and hand-picked vintage. But UO doesn’t stop with fashion. It carries inspiration for your small space, apartment or dorm in its UO Home collection, including bedding, tapestries, rugs and furniture. UO is also a destination for vinyl, record players and tech accessories.

Unlike UO’s other higher-end brands like Free People and Anthropologie, the price tags are pretty affordable by most standards. But similar to its sister brands, there are some clever ways to cut those prices down even further.

1. Join UO Rewards for Free

The first thing you should always do is join a retailer’s loyalty program. UO Rewards is free to join, and you’ll get 10% off your entire purchase online just for signing up. When you join, you’re also automatically awarded 75 points.

There are three membership tiers, and the higher up you go, the more perks you score. UO offers 12 ways to earn points regardless of your tier (shown below).

2. Do Little Things To Earn Extra UO Rewards Points

Rack up the points and earn those $5 Rewards faster by doing little things when you shop Urban Outfitters throughout the year. For example, earn up to 10 points a month just for checking out the UO app or an extra 5 points when you include a photo with a review. Pretty simple, ey?

3. Shop an Urban Outfitters Sale

BDG Jeans Sale

UO offers savings on their own BDG jeans throughout the year. For example, last year, the retailer offered 25% off select BDG Jeans when you purchased them online. Keep an eye out for those.

Clearance Sales

Filled with savings of up to 75% off, UO’s clearance sales (offered throughout the year) are something you cannot afford to miss out on.

One-Day Flash Sales

Urban Outfitters loves to run Flash Sales as little treats to their customers. These sales are usually on specific types of merchandise, but the savings are usually HUGE. Flash Sales can include UO’s list of favorite brands, graphic T-shirts, extra discounts on sale merchandise and lots more. Subscribe to their emails or follow UO on social media to be in the know. UO pretty much runs these random sales for a variety of reasons, like the Friday the 13th Sale, St. Patrick’s Day Sale and just a normal Friday sale, for example.

Home Sale

During the UO Home Sale, score deals of as much as 50% off bedding, rugs, curtains, throws and more. Most sales happen at the end of each season.

Cold Weather Sale

Usually starting shortly after Christmas and continuing into the first of the year, this sale is UO’s way of making room for the next season’s trendy fashions. Expect fabulous deals on jackets, sweaters and everything to make you feel cozy.

4. Shop the Urban Outfitters Black Friday Sale

Image: Urban Outfitters

Black Friday Sales are the grand champions of retail sales all year. And that goes for UO. If you missed the 2023 Black Friday Salecheck back in 2024 on Nov. 29.

You’ll get to preview UO’s sale section and upcoming holiday gift center when it’s closer to the big day. In the past, we’ve seen the best Black Friday deals on women’s and men’s clothing, electronics and gear from brands like Nike and Polaroid. Plus, its Cyber Monday sales include fun and adorable holiday gifts. Bookmark the Urban Outfitters store locations page to find out when the nearest store opens on Black Friday this year.

5. Urban Outfitters UP Membership (discontinued)

2023 Update:

UO discontinued the UP membership program. We were never able to take advantage of it anyway because it always seemed to be in the “test phase.” If you were one of the lucky few, then check out the other free UO benefits.

For those who love Urban Outfitters and brands that sell similar styles and are part of the OU family, then consider a UP membership. Honestly, this program has been in the “test phase” for a while, and if you’re lucky enough to live in an area where you can get the program, then I’m officially jealous.

A UP membership gets you 15% off at Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie and Free People on every purchase (excluding sale merch). It costs $98 a year for an extra 15% off, a $40 gift card and free shipping with no minimum purchase for the year.

6. Get an Urban Outfitters Student Discount

Image: Urban Outfitters

Although Urban Outfitters doesn’t offer a student discount in the U.S. year-round, the retailer does run special opportunities from time to time for students to save. So, be on high alert when they roll around by “liking” or “following” UO on social media.

Just in time for back to school, last year UO offered a student discount of an extra 10% off purchases of $100 or more to everyone — current, former and future students, or anyone with a pulse. Look for that opportunity again in 2024.

7. Score Free Shipping at Urban Outfitters

Getting free shipping is what savvy shoppers strive to achieve on every online order. And at Urban Outfitters, it’s not hard at all to do just that. UO orders over $75 ship for free — always. Plus, the brand offers free shipping throughout the year with no minimum purchase requirement — be on the lookout for those sacred opportunities. But there are other ways to score free shipping.

Store Pickup

To see if an item is eligible for a store pickup, check for its availability on the product page or look for the “Pick Up” option when checking out. In-stock items are ready at the store within 24 hours. If it needs to be shipped to your store, it’ll take about four to six days. Either way, you’ll receive an email confirmation when it’s ready for pickup.

Don’t forget to bring a copy of your “Ready For Pickup” email with you to pick up your items. You can have someone else pick up your order, but make sure they have your “Ready for Pickup” email, too.

Curbside Pickup

If you don’t want to go inside a UO store (because it’s too enticing), then you can grab your order curbside. Call the store to let them know you’re there when you arrive.

Collection Points

You can have your order shipped to various Collection Points if you don’t want it shipped to your house, like around the holidays if you live with certain people who like to snoop. It arrives within five to seven business days.

How Long Does Urban Outfitters Take To Ship?

Once you place your order, it’s packaged and shipped as soon as possible. If you choose standard shipping, you’ll receive your order within five to eight business days. For faster shipping, choose express or rush shipping for an extra fee.

8. Look for Urban Outfitters Promos

Image: Urban Outfitters

UO has an entire page devoted to current promos and sales. It’s a handy page, so bookmark it for quick access because you can see which categories are on sale and how long those sales last. Plus, it lists the current ways UO members can earn extra points.

9. Know the Urban Outfitters Return Policy

The Urban Outfitters return policy is pretty standard. You have 30 days after you place the order online to return your stuff for a full refund. If you have a return after 30 days, then you’ll receive an e-merchandise credit. Obviously, you can’t return final sale merchandise and made-to-order furniture.

A $5 restocking fee is deducted from your refund for most returns by mail. To get a free return, you’ll have to return your order to a UO store to avoid the restocking fee. Don’t forget to take your order confirmation email with you.

Holiday Return Policy

Any Urban Outfitters purchases you make between Nov. 1 and Dec. 24 are eligible for a return or exchange until Feb. 29, 2024. After this date, you’ll get a gift card for the amount paid when the item is returned with an original sales receipt. Holiday shoppers can also receive a one-time price adjustment with an original sales receipt within 14 days of purchase if the price drops during that time.

10. Get an Urban Outfitters Employee Discount, and Share It With Your Family

If you’ve ever thought about working at Urban Outfitters or even Free People and Anthropologie, you’ll score a TON of perks.

These are all the ways you’ll save as an employee and all the eligible people in your life:

  • 40% off regular-priced apparel, accessories and shoes in stores and online.
  • 25% off all regular-priced home/apartment merchandise.
  • $75 monthly subscription to Nuuly.
  • 20% food and beverage discounts from Sunday to Thursday, including alcohol and takeout, at Amis, Gatehouse, Pizzeria Vetri and Terrain Café.

11. Download the UO App for Exclusive Savings

Image: Urban Outfitters

Besides just being really pretty, the UO app is also your ticket to additional ways to save. You can get app-only sitewide discounts like 10% off, for example. For UO Reward members, just for downloading the UO App, you’ll earn 50 points, and when you enable push notifications, you’ll earn an extra 30 points.

12. Check RetailMeNot for Urban Outfitters Coupons

Look for the most up-to-date coupons to use at Urban Outfitters right here at RetailMeNot. Plus, score RetailMeNot Cash Back when it’s available for your online purchases.
