We have some not-so-great news to start the week: Netflix just announced it will be raising it’s prices, and by quite a lot.
Netflix sent out an email around midnight on Monday (I got mine on EST time at 4 a.m.) to subscribers letting us know they’ll be rolling out new pricing starting at the next billing cycle, which for me in the beginning of December.
I currently pay for the Premium account with includes four screens for my family members, and added another extra member for my grandmother when the Queen’s Gambit came out (she loved it!). Here’s the email I received from Netflix:
That may not seem like a huge increase month to month, but if you do the math that’s about $276 a year, from $240.
I’m all about more value for my membership, but they are vague and – call me a skeptic – I’m sure there’s a reason behind this that they’re not disclosing.
So, are you going to pay the surcharge or leave for another streamer? I haven’t decided yet and would love to hear your thoughts!
