Wiping down counters and washing dishes are kitchen tasks that are done pretty often in most households, but some parts of the kitchen tend to get neglected. No one wants to clean out the refrigerator or scour the oven, but they do need to be done on a regular basis. Try these Tips To Easily Clean Your Tricky Kitchen Areas.

Kitchen Sink

Most people don’t know that kitchen sinks are often one of the dirtiest places in a house because they are easily overlooked. To make yours sparkle, spray a mix of 1 ounce bleach, 1/2 quart of water and 1 teaspoon of Dawn dish soap. Let sit for 5 minutes and then scrub with a large brush. Clean the faucet and drain seam with a toothbrush and flush with hot water.

Refrigerator

Tackle this job one step at a time. First pull out shelves and drawers and soak them in water and dish soap. Next spray the inside with a mixture of 1 cup water, 1 cup distilled white vinegar and 1 teaspoon of Dawn dish soap. If there is any stuck-on food, sprinkle baking soda on it after spraying. Then scrub it all with a good non-scratch sponge. Wipe everything down with a damp cloth, and put shelves and drawers back in. Don’t forget to wipe the bottoms of your food containers and bottles as you put them back.

Stovetop

For gas stovetops and burner grates, scrub with a mixture of 1 cup distilled white vinegar, 1 Tablespoon of castile soap, and 2 cups of water. For glass tops, squirt some Dawn dish soap all over the top. Sprinkle with baking soda and add 2-3 teaspoons of hydrogen peroxide. Scrub with a glass cooktop cleaning pad (regular scrubbers may scratch the glass). Let it sit for 3-4 minutes and then wipe clean.

Now that your top is clean, take off the knobs and vent-hood screen and soak in hot soapy water. Scrub off the grease and replace.

Oven

The dreaded oven can seem like a daunting task. Here’s how to get it done without too much elbow grease. Pull out the metal shelves and run them through the dishwasher, or soak in hot water, soapy water for a couple of hours. Meanwhile, spray the interior of your oven with a solution of 2 cups water and 2 tablespoons of Dawn dish soap and let sit for 5 minutes. Next wipe with a Pumie Scouring Stick. You can do the same thing on the metal parts of your oven door, but will want to use a non-scratch sponge instead of the pumice for the glass. Replace shelves and use a vacuum to get crumbs out of your warming drawer. Did you know that the drawer under your oven is for keeping foods warm? For years I thought it was for storing pans!

Dishwasher

Unscrew the filter and rinse in hot water. Scrub with a toothbrush and screw it back in. Pop off the spraying arms and rinse with warm water. Use a toothpick to get into those small little holes. Wipe the door with a damp cloth, and then run it with a dishwasher cleaning pod.

Backsplash

Squirt your backsplash with solution of 2 cups water and 2 tablespoons of Dawn dish soap. Let sit for a couple of minutes and wipe with a warm cloth. To clean the grout use a paste of 1/2 cup baking soda and 1/4 cup hydrogen peroxide. Scrub gently with a toothbrush and wipe clean.
